Value-Add Services

I recently came across a brief article on TechCrunch which announced that Bessemer Venture Partners hired a “Designer in Residence” to work directly for their venture capital fund to build and design websites for some of their portfolio companies. It seems as though TechCrunch (as well as several other publications and people on the web) felt that this was an innovative idea, but I was a little surprised by this reaction since it is similar to the type of value-add services which OpenView has long provided for our portfolio companies. The OpenView Labs team is currently made up of specialists who provide operational, sales and marketing, technical IT, legal, product development, and recruiting support to our portfolio. As a recruiter, I am interested to see which other professional specialties we add to the OpenView Labs team in the future as both OpenView and our expansion stage portfolio companies grow and evolve.
