Tweeting Your Jobs

February 3, 2010

We are always looking for new ways to find the best candidates for open positions at OpenView and our expansion stage portfolio companies, and most recently we have begun posting jobs on Twitter. While we have yet to determine the effectiveness of using Twitter for job postings, it is certainly worth trying for yourself, especially since posting is free!

TwitJobSearch.com
is exactly what it sounds like– a search engine for Twitter job postings– but it is also a tool for actually posting open positions to Twitter, and helping you figure out how to say it all in 140 characters or less. TwitJobSearch.com will ask you to log on to your Twitter account (ours is @OpenViewVenture – follow us!), and then fill in fields including the name of the position, where it is located, and a link to the job description if it is on your company’s website. If the job description hasn’t been posted yet, you can paste it into another field, and TwitJobSearch.com will create a page for your job description.

Your tweet will end up looking something like this:
OpenViewVenture Now Hiring: Research Director (Venture Capital)- Boston #job #VC http://tinyurl.com/y972od9 #tjsjob

This tweet should come up for anyone searching for a job in Boston Venture Capital, so hopefully this type of posting will get to candidates who may not have heard about it through other vehicles. We will keep you updated on how this new tool enhances our recruiting support!
