To Zmag or not to Zmag

March 28, 2010

So I have a ton of respect and admiration for the guys over at Junta42… So I thought I’d go over to Joe Pulizzi’s blog to get my weekly dose of marketing insights… I didn’t have to get very far. There in the latest post, he has this great whitepaper about Marketing Engagement. And here I am getting ready to absorb what I know will be fascinating and thought provoking stuff that I can share with our portfolio CEOs…

And to my horror! The paper is in PDF format! Now here’s a leading edge marketer… a 3.0 marketer… using a 1.0 publishing vehicle… And as I scrolled down the dreary PDF navigation, I just couldn’t focus on the content. So I took upon myself on a Sunday afternoon when I could be spending my time with the kids to convert it to a Zmag and read in 2.0 format…

So do me a favor… Check out both version below… and tell me which one is a better reading experience… and if you think its the Zmags version, email Joe and demand that he shell out some money and buy a Zmags license.

The Zmags version

Oh, and I just want to reiterate… I’m a huge fan of Joe and his team… They were brilliant at helping some of our expansion stage companies figure out their content marketing strategy. And brilliant at turning content management marketing into highly effective competitive positioning.

The Chief Executive Officer

Firas was previously a venture capitalist at Openview. He has returned to his operational roots and now works as The Chief Executive Officer of Everteam and is also the Founder of nsquared advisory. Previously, he helped launch a VC fund, start and grow a successful software company and also served time as an obscenely expensive consultant, where he helped multi-billion-dollar companies get their operations back on track.
