The Worst Hiring Trends of 2009

December 21, 2009

It has obviously been a tough year for hiring. Since many companies had few open positions and an abundance of candidates, many of them changed the way they handled their recruitment efforts, negatively affecting their communication with applicants. I recently read this article on abcnews.com which outlined the worst hiring trends of 2009.

According to the article, the Top 5 Worst Hiring Trends of 2009 are, in no particular order:

  • Labyrinthine Job Application Systems
  • Overly Demanding Job Listings
  • Unscrupulous Recruiters
  • Endless Interview Loops
  • No Follow-Up with Finalists

The entire article is worth reading for anyone involved in recruiting support for an expansion stage company, since these poor hiring trends are pet peeves for job seekers which may turn them off to your company if they are not addressed.
