The Shifting Internet Job Board

February 11, 2010

Today I came across an article on TechCrunch titled, “Does Monster’s Acquisition of Yahoo! HotJobs Matter If The Internet Is The Job Board?”. I was surprised to find that the article touched upon topics I highlighted in my last two blog posts — the increasing use of social media and sector specific job boards for recruiting support over “traditional” job boards.

Since I recruit for a growth venture capital firm, I also found the article’s statement that venture-backed startups are the force behind this shift of particular interest. As these startups develop new technologies to help companies source and hire talent, they are quickly changing how I do my job. Although I’m not sure whether or not OpenView is considering providing venture funding to any expansion stage companies in the recruitment market, it seems like it would be an interesting sector to tap into!
