A Few Observations on the Structure and Foundation of Scrum

Numerous factors contributed to form Scrum into the entity it is today.

Not all agile development processes are created in the same way. Scrum’s founding members had diverse backgrounds that lent themselves well to the creation process and its result. The founders of Scrum leveraged their industry-specific thought leadership for the purpose of generating this new agile development method.

Jeff Sutherland, one of the founding members, brought his own particular background to the table. He was a fighter pilot for 11 years before looking to expand his resume. Because of this, he was able to help come up with things like the Burn Down Chart for the scrum process.

Taking a step back in the process, Sutherland, in this video, explained the reasoning behind a number of other components of Scrum, how they were created and what their purposes are.
