It’s that time of year again — there is a crispness to the air, the leaves are changing color, and practically everything is pumpkin flavored. Yet the beginning of Fall means more than apple cider and Halloween candy. School is also in full swing and career fairs are happening at colleges near you! While you may think that it’s too early to attend a career fair, there are multiple reasons why it is beneficial for your company to make its presence known before midterms hit.
1) Increase Your Company’s Brand Awareness
Sure, it’s possible that you won’t find any rock stars at a career fair. Or maybe you would rather wait to snag candidates when they graduate. If that’s the case, you may feel like attending a career fair is a waste of time and energy. What you need to remember, however, is that when you attend a career fair you become visible to every student in attendance. When they’re actively looking for jobs in the future, it’s a sure bet that they will remember your company. Never pass up an opportunity to get your name out there.
While students may not be available for full time positions, they can definitely do an internship with your company in the spring. Internships are a great way to get another set of hands on your team and test out potential full-time employees.
3) Snatch Up a Rock Star
Students who attend career fairs are already exhibiting many of the qualities of a great employee. They are motivated to get a head start on their job search and are making plans for the future rather than partying away their last few months of college. There could be some real gems at these fairs and hiring them early will ensure you beat your competition to a great new employee!
