Not Your Average VC: Meet the OpenView Labs Team

What OpenView Labs is All About

OpenView Labs is the operational consulting arm of OpenView Venture Partners, a Boston-based VC. The term value-add is thrown around a lot in venture capital, but when we say it, we mean it. Because we our investment strategy is so highly focused on B2B, expansion-stage technology companies we have been able to build best practices, benchmarks, and frameworks around talent and customer acquisition that can be shared across our entire portfolio. And to take it a step further, we actually have a team of operational experts our portfolio can call on to help put those best practices into action so portfolio companies can start seeing results.

In the VC world, that makes us unique. And because of that, we get a lot of questions about the Labs team, why we exist and how we operate. Here are a few of the most common questions and our answers:

Who is OpenView Labs?

We are a dedicated team of 15 full-time consultants who work exclusively with the B2B expansion-stage software companies that OpenView invests in.

What do you do?

We partner directly with senior managers (C-level, VPs, and Directors) at our companies, helping them with their most important objectives at the expansion stage — getting more customers and growing their internal team.

Where do you work with your companies?

We can either travel to our companies offices, engage virtually, or host teams in our incubation space — the Expansion Labs — for onsite workshops and training sessions.

When do you work with your companies?

All day, every day. OpenView Labs is our companies’ strategic partner, sounding board, and support system as they move through a very specific period of growth.

Why does a VC have a team like this?

We have a vested interest in seeing your investments succeed and we are committed to using our knowledge and expertise to help our companies get bigger, faster.

Meet the Team

Within the Labs, there are three different teams:
