The New PR Strategy – from the Duct Tape Marketing

March 20, 2010

Last Friday the Duct Tape Marketing blogged about a simple plan for PR that all small businesses such as expansion stage software companies could implement to achieve their goals within business growth strategies. This PR tactic may also help in creating competitive advantage by increasing brand awareness.

The five steps for implementing a successful PR strategy are: Listen, Network, Pitch Curves, Release and Amplify. For this post I’d like to provide more insights on the last step – amplify. (For all of the tips and tricks, read the full Duct Tape Marketing post here).

Duct Tape Marketing recommends that your should ‘amplify’ all of your news by tweeting, posting to your website’s news section, sending to customers and employees, and setting up Delicious RSS feeds. Here are some more ways you can make your news release truly shine:

  • Post it to all of your social networking sites (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
  • Blog about it, but be sure to add more content (After all, according to our friends at Compendium, your business blog should be the hub of your business).
  • Encourage your employees and customers to share the news with others they think would benefit from the content
  • Add it to an email signature if you send a lot of emails
  • Include its link on comments you make on popular blogs as long as the content is relevant and adds to your point
