The Importance of Employee Engagement in Content Marketing

Are Your Employees Engaged with Content Marketing?

I wrote about customer engagement and content marketing a few times before, but I have yet to discuss my thoughts on the topic of employee engagement.
If customer engagement for content marketing boils down to the value customers receive when consuming your content, what is employee engagement?

To me, employee engagement refers to how your employees connect with your company or brand’s content development efforts as well as their perception of the value of the content distributed to your target audience. If your employees are truly engaged with your content marketing efforts, you will see the following benefits:

  • A consistently, updated corporate blog that speaks to your target audience and showcases the personality of your brand and of your employees
  • Multiple people ready and willing to share and promote your brand’s content to their networks
  • Multiple networks of experts you could use to boost your content development efforts
  • A bevy of new ideas for future content development efforts
  • Participation in the creation of additional content types including audio and video
