Getting Started with Influencer Marketing

Influencer marketing is all about marketing to a select group of targets so you can essentially market with and through them. Think of influencer marketing as identifying and encouraging brand champions to spread the word about your company or product. Once you know who you are targeting, you can think about marketing to, through, and with your influencers.

A while back I shared TippingPoint Labs’ approach to influencer marketing. This pyramid approach may help your brand create a solid content marketing strategy by drawing out exactly who influences who. It shows how influencer marketing can be used to help push your content development efforts and content marketing strategy to the next level, while you improve your customer engagement.

TippingPoint Labs describes 4 types of influencers (Brand Journalists, Digital Influencers, Prosumers, and Consumers). By marketing effectively to your Brand Journalists (i.e. the most influential targets within your space) you will be marketing to the rest of your influencers and target markets.Have you adopted an influencer marketing approach?
