London Business School professor Julian Birkinshaw, “puzzled about why so many managers do such a poor job,” has pinpointed seven common management mistakes. In a post at the Harvard Business Review Blog Network, Birkinshaw defines “what bad management looks like, using those old favorites, the Seven Deadly Sins.” Starting with “a greedy boss” who “pursues wealth, status, and growth to get noticed,” Birkinshaw runs down the list of poor management styles, touching on everything from vanity projects to temperamental behavior to overambitious gluttonous bosses with too much on their proverbial plates.
