Time ranks high on the list of a company’s most precious commodities, and yet so often it goes wasted — but not necessarily in the ways you might think.
For those so inclined, there’s a plethora of ways to kill time at work – checking and updating Facebook, of course, playing out elaborate office pranks — but during any given work day there are also plenty of work-related tasks that can get in the way of employees effectively doing their jobs. With help from the data collected by VoIP communications company Fonality, social performance management tool Rypple has compiled an infographic pinpointing the top five mundane tasks responsible for making our jobs that much-more time-consuming.
As Matt Silverman reports in a post for Mashable, “pinpointing and compiling all those wasted man hours could save companies some substantial coin,” and Rypple’s infographic provides a good — if surprising — start. Contrary to what many might think, the top time-suck culprit isn’t social media, but rather attempts to get in touch with customers and/or colleagues. Trying to collect key information comes in at a close second. To find out which counter-productive tasks round out the top five time wasters — and also what to do to counteract them — check out the infographic here.
