How Will Tech Evolve Over the Next 12 Months?

Back in 2009, OpenView Senior Research Associate Tien Anh Nguyen took a stab at predicting how the software and technology industry would change over the following year. While there were some hits (growth of mobile payments, maturation of cloud computing) and misses (emergence of smart energy management platforms), this year he’s determined to improve his score with a new slate of bolder predictions for 2012.

“Technology is evolving at a breakneck pace, fueled by entrepreneurial zeal, availability of funding (for early stages), and the dramatic growth of the world’s Internet population,” he writes. “In order to get better at this, I need to be more bullish and bolder in my predictions, as new technologies are invented everyday to solve issues that we thought were  impossible even just a few years ago.”
