How to Avoid the Most Common Scrum Pitfalls

April 25, 2012

When implemented correctly, Scrum can help you control risk, manage projects, and develop products better and faster than you thought possible.

But in order to do so there are several major pitfalls you need to avoid, advises Dr. Jeff Sutherland, CEO of Scrum Inc., in this short video.

One of the mistakes you need to sidestep is releasing your product without proper customer feedback and certainty that your product’s features are ones the customers actually want. Another common mistake is the failure of managers to get involved with their teams. If this is the case, there needs to be a shift in management mindset — managers need to get in the habit of actively helping teams be great, rather than simply waiting for a report on the results.
