Employee Engagement: The Plight of the Disengaged Employee

The blame usually falls squarely on an employee when they’re disengaged from their work.

But how did the employee get disengaged? That’s the question probed by workplace expert Kevin Burns in this brief video. Burns believes that the employees aren’t always the source of their own problem. Instead, he suggests that wage cuts, outsourced jobs, reduced benefits, reduced work hours and other morale-defeating measures are to blame.

And yet, the troubled employee often becomes the scapegoat. If the right hires are supposedly being made, Burns ask, why aren’t they producing the expected results?
