Building an Infrastructure Conducive to Scrum

June 2, 2011

A Scrum adoption can not be conducted inside a vacuum.

The entire business needs to believe in the agile development method, in addition to supporting its implementation. To that extent, it’s vital that an adequate infrastructure is provided in order to support Scrum processes.

The company needs to be able to provide Scrum leaders, management teams, development teams and more. Not only that, but these teams must be able to work with an agile mindset. The goal of Scrum is always to gain a competitive advantage through increased development speeds and to improve on the software in order to better product positioning. But these goals will never be realized unless an infrastructure is available to support the agile switch.

Many companies already have the pieces in place. Those that don’t should take appropriate hiring and training steps, otherwise, internal challenges should be expected. For more on having the right Scrum infrastructure, watch the video from OpenView Labs featuring Scott Downey.
