How to Increase Customer Engagement through Employee Engagement with Content Marketing

I often write about tips to improve customer engagement with content marketing; however, last week I started to think a little about employee engagementEmployee engagement is arguably just as important because it is your employee’s responsibility to contribute to your overall corporate content development efforts. Just think, if your employees are actively engaged in the corporate content marketing strategy, it will be that much easier to develop engaging content for your audience.

Why?
One quick example deals with customer service. Your customer service team interacts with your customers every day. That team has the insight on the customer’s true pain points!

Here are 2 quick tips to help increase employee engagement in your company:

* Hold a blogging competition to increase participation. The rules can be simple. Create teams of 3-5 employees. In order to qualify, each employee has to submit at least seven standard blog posts during the week of the competition. The winning team can receive a prize such as a $100 gift card. The winner is the team who wins two out of the following three categories:

o Average number of posts per person within the team
o Average number of pageviews per person within the team
o A third-party person selects the top 10 blog posts. The team with the most blog posts selected wins.

* Communicate the successes (and failures) with the entire organization. At least once a quarter, it is important to share the results of the content marketing efforts. Share the number of visitors, page views and comments in comparison to any past statistics. Also, be sure to share any feedback you are receiving from your target audience. Good feedback will help show the value of the content marketing efforts to any skeptics in your organization. This type of reporting will also help with any accountability issues you may face.
